Trip Details
Day 1
You will travel by luxury coach from Liverpool on Friday 6th November (11.00 a.m. outside the Henry Cotton building, Webster Street) to Holyhead. At Holyhead we will board the ferry to Dublin and will meet in the bar for photographs. The crossing takes around 3.5 hours allowing you the opportunity to have a bite to eat or drink in the bars.
On arrival in Dublin you will be taken to your overnight accommodation - Jury's Hotel, Parnell Street. Here you will have the opportunity to freshen up before you embark on the 'Dublin experience'. You will be free to explore Dublin at your leisure.
Day 2
Departure form Dublin will be at 11.00 a.m. prompt allowing early risers the chance to wander around Dublin for several hours. The party will travel across Ireland to Hollymount with a stop for lunch en route. Estimated time of arrival in Hollymount is 15.30 hours where we will be met by the Reilly family who will introduce us to our various hosts for our stay in County Mayo.
You will then have the remainder of the afternoon and early evening to relax and enjoy a meal with your hosts. You may take the opportunity to explore and loosen up with a jog or walk. Later in the evening we will all meet in the local pub Cheers for last minute carbo-loading and entertainment.
Day 3
Following breakfast with your hosts you will have plenty of time to prepare for the exertions to follow. Races begin in the early afternoon with the youth's race (3 km) at 13:00 hours, the ladies' race (3 km) scheduled for 13:30 hours and the men's race (10 km) at 14:00 hours.
Following the races you will have time to shower and eat prior to the race presentation. This will be followed by a final farewell to our Irish hosts. It is customary to express your thanks to your hosts by way of a gift such as wine or chocolates. Departure from Hollymount will be at 16.00 hours prompt. The return leg of the journey is a swift one with a non-stop ride to Dublin where we will catch the 20.55 ferry to Holyhead. You may take this opportunity to continue your post-race celebrations or simply relax and contemplate the weekend's activities. On arrival in Holyhead (at about midnight) we will board the coach and complete our journey to Liverpool (ETA 02.00 hours).
